What We Do

We aim to support mothers who, due to lack of insurance or employer support, cannot access critical postpartum recovery resources. 

Our longer-term goal is to create systemic change by expanding the community-based doula network that will be committed to support these mothers.

Doula Certification Financial Assistance

Parental Benefits Support

Our parental benefits program supports low-income women of color who don’t have access to benefits such as paid maternity leave, doula services or perinatal mental health services, through employers or are located in states without funded programs.  

 

Seyva provides up to $1000 for eligible applicants to cover gaps in benefits.

 

Eligibility requirements:

  • Complete our application form. 

  • Priority will be given to mothers who identify as low-income, according to US Department of Education Income Levels. 

  • Priority will be given to mothers who identify as Black, Latina, Indigenous, Immigrants, Young, Single, and mothers with disabilities.

Community Based Trainings & Support Groups

Our parent training & support program provides low-income women of color who don’t have access to doula services or community training programs. 

Seyva partners with community-based doulas to provide free or highly subsidized, cohort-based trainings and continued virtual support through pregnancy, birth and up to three months after delivery.

 

Eligibility requirements:

  • Complete our application form. 

  • Priority will be given to mothers who identify as Black, Latina, Indigenous, Immigrants, Young, Single, and mothers with disabilities.

  • Priority will be given to mothers who identify as low-income, according to US Department of Education Income Levels.

Doula Certification Financial Assistance

Our doula certification financial assistance program provides financial support to low-income women of color applying for doula certification.

Seyva provides up to $750 for eligible applicants to cover their certification fees.

 

Eligibility requirements:

  • Complete our application form. 

  • You need to be pursuing the program or enrolled.

  • Priority will be given to participants from rural/remote regions and urban areas where there is a recognized gap and need for community-based doula services.

  • Program beneficiaries are expected to sign up to provide free postpartum doula services for one low-income woman of color per year for the three years following certification.
